The Gatlinburg Fire Department performed a routine test of its emergency warning system on Thursday, September 28, at approximately 10:00a.m.
The system is comprised of horns strategically placed throughout Gatlinburg over which a siren was sounded during the routine testing on Thursday morning. The equipment is also capable of being utilized as a public address system in order to announce emergency procedures whenever the need arises.
These tests will be scheduled to occur three times per year, according to Fire Chief Greg Patterson.
