Seymour Middle School (SMS) has successfully finished its 3rd annual student Art Contest. Students were judged in several different categories this year, including Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, and Creative Expression. “There were so many good pieces (of art work) to choose from, we added two new categories this year,” said SMS art teacher Pam Cosner. “We added an abstract art category and a mixed media category.”
Students competed for cash prizes, t-shirts, movie passes, dance passes, and certificates for free popcorn, drinks and candy from the SMS concession stand. Everyone who participated in the 2005-2006 art contest received a certificate and was invited to a popcorn party.
“It just keeps getting bigger and better,” said Ms. Cosner. “I can’t wait until next year.” Several of the winning pieces will be taken to the Sevier County Art Show to be held in Sevierville in February.
