Donations down almost 100 per day

MEDIC Regional Blood Center needs Sevier County residents to show their generosity and donate blood this holiday season.  MEDIC mobile units will be at Walmart-Sevierville, December 21 from 10:00am – 6:00pm.  “Our donations have decreased dramatically during the last couple of weeks due to the busy holiday season,” states Christi Stalans, Public Relations for MEDIC.
MEDIC needs 350 units of blood each and every day to meet the need of our area hospitals.  MEDIC is the sole blood supplier for Sevier County and 20 other neighboring counties.  “We depend on the generosity of volunteer donors to boost the community’s blood supply.  Sevier County has always been a dependable county for us and we certainly hope that’s the case this week,” notes Stalans.
All donors must be 17 years of age or older, weigh more than 110lbs, and have positive identification.  A single blood donation takes less than an hour and can save up to three lives.  Blood donation really does mean the difference between life and death—there is no substitute for blood or blood products.  All donors will receive a free t-shirt and cholesterol screening (no fasting required).
Please plan to visit one of the above blood drives and give the gift of life this holiday season.
