At about 3 p.m. July 20, a 1992 Ford Escort driven by Dan Zeits traveling east on Boyds Creek Hwy was attempting to turn left into Custom Cabinets parking lot when a motorcycle attempted to pass Zeits on the left, according to reports.
Zeits told the Herald, “I was going to pick up my daughter who lives down near the subdivision when I saw a person I knew, I thought he needed a ride, so I slowed down and I barely turned my wheel and the next thing I know, boom. I never saw him [the motorcycle]. I didn’t know what happened, I just saw the guy fly by me.”
The motorcycle driver was airlifted to UT Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Zeits didn’t indicate that he had any injuries at the accident scene.
The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, The Sevier County Ambulance, The Sevier County Sheriff and the Tennessee Highway Patrol all were on the scene to assist.
