Medic offers unique blood protection program.. A pint of blood donated to the Medic Regional Blood Center will ensure your family does not have to pay blood supply processing fees at any hospital in the U.S. According to Medic, A-negative and A-positive blood supplies are below the minimum levels required. O-negative and O-positive donors are still needed, but donors of all blood types are encouraged to give since shortages average over 100 pints per day. In Kodak, you may donate blood: Friday, March 26, Kodak Montessori School (classroom), 2946 Douglas Dam Rd., 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Donors must have positive identification, be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. There is no upper age limit for donating blood. In addition to receiving the Medic family coverage, donors also will receive a colorful Medic T-shirt, and a free cholesterol level evaluation.
In East Tennessee, Medic supplies 28 hospitals in a 21-county region, which includes Sevier County. Medic was established in 1958 by Carl Nelson, MD, under the sponsorship of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. Area physicians supported the independent, not-for-profit blood center because they wanted a source of blood from volunteer donors, and they desired centralization of blood collection, testing and distribution. Medic’s operational and capital costs are financed by blood supplier processing fees charged to hospitals. Medic must collect blood from 300-350 donors every day of the workweek in order to supply the region_s hospitals.

Meridan Baptist Church, Triple L Club
will meet April 1st, 2004 with coffee at 10:30 a.m. program at 11 a.m. and lunch to follow at noon at a cash $3.00 per person. Their program will be 12 adults. The Knoxville Chapter of The Tennessee Firearms Association
will have its monthly meeting at Bob’s mountaineer Restaurant on Chapman Highway (next to Food City) in Seymour, on Tuesday April 6, 2004 at 7 p.m. The group will gather between 6&6 p.m. for dinner (optional). The guest speakers will be Knoxville attorneys John Waters & David Eldridge and their presentation will be ‘the legal aftermath of a self-defense shooting”. Our meetings are open to the public and those in attendance need not be a member of TFA.
