Sevierville Police Department officials and TBI are as yet unable to report any significant progress in the case of homicide involving Shane Bacon of Cocke County, TN, a co-owner of Monster Audio and Accessories, though they are confident that a break will come soon.
“Once we get the lab results back I think we are going to be able to solve this case,” said Jim Deanda, Director of Information Services for the City of Sevierville in a phone interview with The Herald. Lab tests by the TBI are now being executed on evidence collected at the apparent scene of the murder, Monster Audio and Accessories located at 1352 Dolly Parton Parkway in the Splendor Oaks Plaza strip mall. There is no current timetable on when those results would be available to detectives.
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, Sevierville Police were contacted via a 911 call, made by a concerned acquaintance of the victim.
Sevierville Police Officer Amy Siples met the concerned individual at the front of Monster Audio and Accessories, and reported that the building was locked, the lights were on and no one was visible within the store.
Police were able to contact the owner of the mall complex, who came to the business and unlocked the door. Officer Siples found Bacon’s body in an office area in the back of the store.
Sevierville CID Detective Doug Shanks is leading the investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation is requested to contact Detective Shanks at 453-5506.
