The Knox County Sheriffs Office arrested 45-year-old Charles Richard Greer after a Knox County Grand Jury indicted Greer for first-degree murder on March 25. The indictment is the result of an extensive investigation by the Sheriffs Office into the shooting death of 18 year-old Matthew Brewer. Greer is accused of shooting Brewer in the back on January 13, 2003 at Greer’s residence at 10820 Dineen Drive in Farragut. A few hours after the shooting, Brewer’s body was found in a backyard two houses down from Greer’s. According to the autopsy report, Brewer died as a result of a single fatal wound from a 22 caliber rifle.
Greer is being held on a $500,000 bond.
