On December 7th, my family watched a great parade in Seymour. It brought back a lot of memories of my childhood Christmas parades in Sevierville. The horses and wagons were just like the old days. And what a great Grand Marshal in Todd Howell. It was great watching the parade, and also the kids around us catching candy with a smile. That can make your day. Christmas, … what a great time of year. Why did your paper not cover the parade?

Dear Mr. McCarter:
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, and parades can be an important part of it. The parade did not appear in the newspaper for one simple reason. During the parade, the digital camera quality decided to go bad, therefore we had no good pictures. We normally write stories around pictures. And, quite frankly, the story fell through the cracks because we didn’t have a picture to write the story around. Our Managing Editor was out of town for that entire week. Thankfully, you and others that were in attendance did get a chance to participate.
We make every effort to cover the Seymour and surrounding area to the best of our ability. As a matter of fact, judging from the many previous letters we have received, it appears that our readers are very pleased with our performance. That doesn’t mean we are perfect in every way. We make our share of inadvertent mistakes, like everyone else. Pictures are worth thousands of words! Next time, we’ll carry an extra digital camera, with extra batteries.
