The Seymour Lady Eagles, playing in the Knoxville Middle School Soccer League, have just completed their first season of play, and finished with an excellent 7-3-2 record.
The regular season was such a success that the team was upgraded for the Championship Play-Offs, and put up an excellent performance before bowing out to South Doyle.
The team recently held it’s Banquet at Mr.Gatti’s in Sevierville. Several awards were handed out, including the Players MVP Award, voted only by the team players. First Place went to Erin Blackstock, second Place was Katie Parrish, and third was Megan Taylor. The overall player of the year was awarded to Kiera Holbert, who had a great season playing on the left side of the defense.
The Seymour Lady Eagles Soccer Team consists of girls in grades six, seven and eighth, that attend Seymour Middle School. This was the first season for the team, that will hopefully be a good feeder program for the Seymour High School team. Due to the Boys Football commitments at the Seymour fields, the girls had to play and practice at Holston River Park in South-East Knoxville, but they are hoping that space can be found to play at Seymour in the future.
The team is coached by Steve Green, who has lived in Seymour for nearly five years, after moving to Seymour from England. He is married to Cynthia a native of Powell, and they have twi children, Samuel 3, and Gemma 11 months old. The team captains this season were Megan Taylor (8th Grade), Hollie Reagan (7th Grade) and Alannah Parrish (6th Grade).
