At about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday the 12th of June, James and Irene Whitfield were struck by an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Chapman Hwy. and Macon Crossing. Both of the Whitfield’s were taken to the hospital. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt. An eyewitness stated the Chevy S-10 driven by James Whitfield was heading towards Knoxville and made a left hand turn in front of the 18-wheeler.
