New Publication

Simply fantastic!
That is the only way I can describe the first issue of your new publication. As a local business owner, I am excited to see someone come out with a publication that will address the interests of the residents and businesses in this area. Rarely is anything heard about the concerns or accomplishments of residents in the South Knoxville/Seymour area in any other major news publication. Focus always seems to be on West Knoxville and occasionally Fountain City. One might think this area doesn’t exist at all except as a route to the outlet malls in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.
If area concerns are to be addressed, we must be taken seriously. Residents and fellow business owners want changes; I know because I listen to concerns and complaints and yes accomplishments day in and day out in my practice. One of the most effective ways to be taken seriously is to have a publication that expresses the interests of a community circulated for everyone to see. As they say, that’s news folks and it’s about time.
I also would like to extend my support to the publisher, Joseph S. Karl. In his editorial, he mentioned “for those that say they don’t want change, I suggest you review your past and recall all of the changes that took place in your lifetime.” Here! Here! This statement couldn’t be more correct. You’ve got my support, Joseph. The one thing constant in life is change. It is going to happen whether you like it or not.
I found the articles to be interesting, enlightening, and entertaining. Keep up the good work! I would also like to thank Michelle Karl for her kind and courteous service in placing my advertisement. Michelle will go out of her way for you folks, so get on the train or be left at the station. You all read that a super-Wal-Mart will enter our area soon. You cannot compete as a business if people don’t know you are there! Stand up and be heard and seen. Advertise now while the rates are extremely reasonable. When this publication gets BIG and it will, costs will have to go up. Support a good thing is all I’m saying.

Shular Speaks
I read the first edition of the Seymour Herald and was really glad to see one of my developments, Creekside Plantation, on the front page. I was impressed with the quality and content of the paper. I found all the quotes to be very in-line with the exception of one mentioned in your editorial, which was “Seymour is the redheaded stepchild of Sevier County.” Having lived in Seymour for 30-plus years, I can not agree with the statement at all. I will be glad to discuss this with you further and to elaborate at length.
