Naomi F. Tarwater, 74 of Falls Road in Watertown, New York, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Tarwater was a homemaker. She lived in Northern New York for many years, moving to Sevierville in 1988 and returning to Watertown in 2002. She enjoyed needlework, crafts and quilting. Born June 21, 1929 in Ogdensburg, NY, daughter of Almeron F. and Mercy M. Clough Bice, she graduated from Knox Memorial Central School, Russell, NY. She married Henry Walker Tarwater in 1977 in Sevierville. A previous marriage ended in divorce. A private service was held in New York. Interment was Saturday, July 10, 2004 in Tarwater Cemetery. Rev. Glenn Patterson and Rev. David Smith will officiate. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Sevier County Unit, 411 Ashley Avenue, Pigeon Forge, TN, 37863. Christina Emily McDaniels, 25, of Seymour passed away Tuesday July 6, 2004. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Guy Pickering. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family. Funeral service 6 PM Thursday at Atchley’s Seymour Chapel. Interment was held on Friday in Ellejoy Cemetery. Hazel Irene Whaley, age 81, of Pittman Center, went home to Heaven on Sunday, July 4, 2004. She was a member of Hills Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband David O. Whaley, son Willie Ray Whaley, daughter Patricia C. Runyan, parents Walter and Bessie Parton, brothers Oscar Parton, Winfred Parton, Lee Parton, and Earl Parton, and sister Margie Parton. In accordance with Hazel’s wishes, there was a private graveside service. Jessie Kirkwood, age 85 of Tucson, Arizona (formerly of Gatlinburg) died Wednesday, June 23, 2004. A Celebration of Life memorial service was held Friday, July 9, 2004 at Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church. A private burial was held in Middle Creek Cemetery.

Casper Richard Martin, age 67, of Sevierville, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2004, at UT Medical Center. “Casey” was born and raised in Staten Island, NY, and spent 35 years living in Miami, FL, before retiring to Sevier County in 1993. He was of the United Methodist faith and longtime member of Perrine-Peters United Methodist Church in Miami, FL. Casey retired from Sears after 27 years in sales. His hobbies included traveling, photography, and Dodgers baseball, but his true joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at UT Medical Center for their care and compassion. Funeral services were held on Friday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Sallee officiating. Larry Ogle delivered the eulogy. Interment was followed in Middle Creek Cemetery. The family received Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
